Tervigon by cbomb13 Tervigon by cbomb13
Here it is. The HQ for a Tyranid army I'm giving away in April. It will be the grand prize in a charity raffle to benefit the Shriners Children's Hospital.

Converted from a Carnifex, and a few Termigaunts I got from a kid who plays at the shop. Referenced from the drawing in the new codex. Its purpose is to "birth" 3D6 Termigaunts for free every turn. At any time if it rolls doubles, this ability is lost.

Paint scheme is of my own design, I haven't named the Hive Fleet yet.

great job but why are the second set of tallons so small?

It doesn't come with any actual Scything talons, they make them small so people don't confuse them with actual ones. These are purely aesthetic.

Thanks Bud much appreciated :) I'm raffling it off this Sunday. I'm sorry to see it go.

The parasite looks fun. Something straight out of the movie "Aliens." Just be sure to have like a billion ripper swarms in your army box ;)

Nice model, though it doesn't look much different to your average carnifex.

Can you run through how you made it? Espessialy the spine vent. While i can take a guess, it'd be nice to know for sure.

The vents were 100% greenstuff (Miliput actually.) I didn't mold them or anything, I just sort of freehand sculpted them. The "birthing slits" were also greenstuff. I first glued the gaunt bits to the sides of the torso, then added the flaps over them. I wanted the torso to have an over-sized appearance, so I needed a head that was smaller than the Carnifex'. I decided on a plastic Ravener head, as it had the appendages coming out of the cheeks. I carved the carapace down to make the head look more "gaunt-like." The neck was based on the carnifex neck, just continued the pattern in greenstuff to attach the ravener head to the sawed off stub of the carnie's neck. The model is only allowed one set of scything talons, so I used the Trygon talons in front, and smaller Ravener talons behind. The gore effects were done with PVA glue. The longer drips are paintbrush bristles with PVA dripped down them.

Hope this helps :D

Very helpfull, though one thing. Though its nly allowed one set of sything tallons, thats because the other set are caounted as leggs. So you could have used 2 sets, and had one supporting it (like in the codex art).

I don't really care for tyranids (beyond the Genestealers anyway) but this is a great model, great paintjob.

It's actually the one army I've vowed to never own. Don't really care for them either, but they are fun to paint.

At the risk of being too graphic, I wanted to give the impression it has been feasting on a few of it's slower progeny. Biomass is biomass after all ;)

Holy ****ing ****! :wow: Amazing work! Funny, I was just watching Bluetable Painting on youtube show their WIP Tervigon. So are they a type of 'fex or are they their own thing? They did theirs by converting a Trygon model.

It's a monstrous creature that can be made a troops choice. It has the ability to create gaunts, confer the rules from it's own toxin sacs and adrenal glands to any gaunts within 6" of it, it can extend it's synapse range to 18", and it can give any unit within 12" Feel no Pain. Basically this creature is the new must have in any Tyranid army.

I hate the thing all the codexs have of 'one-upmanship'. I think the nid are getting to powerfull. And i say that, though my first army is chaos, my second is the nids, and as a nid player i think they're getting a bit OTT.

I've been playing/watching quite a few games lately against the new book. I have to say with the lack of eternal warrior, the crappy armor of most things, the re-worked synapse, and the lack of any frag (assault) grenades, the army is powerful without being a sledgehammer. You really need to be more tactical about both synapse and cover now, whereas before you could just move ASAP into the enemies lines. I like the new book, and that's saying something because I have always hated 'Nids (no offense.) :D

by the looks of the codex, they're a fex veriant, but i recon GW will release a kit for it. Probobly a Tervigon/Tyrannofex box, as the two units have the same bodily structure.
